The National Association for Pupil Transportation has designated the week of Oct. 17 – Oct. 21 as National School Bus Safety Week. This special safety week is established each year as a time to increase awareness among students, staff, parents and the general public about school bus safety and the best ways to keep all students out of harm’s way.October 3, 2011
For a three week period from Oct. 3 through Oct. 21 the Transportation Department will conduct annual bus evacuation drills at all D200 schools. During the drills drivers speak to the children about potential emergency situations and teach them the safe way to escape through the bus’ emergency exits.September 21, 2011
District 200 parents whose students don’t normally qualify for free bus transportation to and from school may now be eligible to pay a fee for that service. On Sept. 13, 2011 the Board of Education approved certain conditions under which parents could pay for school bus service for their children.One Hour Late Start
